Membership Terms and Conditions

Financial Year Period

The church's financial year runs from January 1st to December 31st.

Membership Fees

Membership price changes depending on the month you applied. Please see below for pricing​​ -​

   January 1st - June 30th                    £10​

   July 1st - September 30th                £5

   September 30th - December 31st    N/A - See Below

Membership Renewal Policy

All memberships must be renewed in January each year, unless first applied for between October 1st and December 31st, in which case membership will commence January 1st and payment will be due within January. This fee is separate from the SNU Membership fee.

Data Protection and Privacy

Your personal information will be securely stored electronically and in paper form for the duration of validity and then destroyed. Information will not be shared with third parties unless required under UK or EC Law.

Governance and Compliance

All churches/centres and members are bound by the Memorandum and Articles of Association and Byelaws of the Union. Copies are available upon request.​

Affirmation of Belief and Rules Compliance

Application for membership requires affirmation of the Seven Principles of Spiritualism and agreement to the Rules for Churches affiliated to the Spiritualist National Union. Copies of the Rules for Churches can be made available to read or for purchase.

Associate Membership Status

New applicants become associate members with no voting rights for a minimum of six months. The exceptions to this condition is if you are an individual member of the SNU or a full member of another SNU Church. In which case there may be no associate period.​​

Full Membership Eligibility

Full membership is by invitation of Hitchin Spiritualist Church's Committee. Membership is confirmed upon signing the roll book. Members are kindly encouraged to attend services regularly to show their support.
